Clackamas County Board of Commissioners react favorably to task force recommendations about long-term, cost-saving sewage treatment investments

Sewer system customers in much of Clackamas County could save millions of dollars in avoided system expansion costs over the next 20 years based on recommendations made this week by a special citizen’s committee.

Clackamas County enters DEQ agreement requiring sewage treatment expansion by 2010

To protect Willamette River quality, and to avoid further state environmental violations and fines, the Board of Clackamas County Commissioners (BCC) announced this week that it is voluntarily entering into a Mutual Agreement Order (MAO) with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

Survey results reveal community attitudes

As part of the efforts being made towards a solution for the wastewater treatment challenges in Clackamas County Service District  No. 1(CCSD #1) and the surrounding communities, Clackamas County conducted two public opinion surveys.  The results of these surveys will help civic leaders understand citizen knowledge, attitudes and concerns about the County’s wastewater management situation. The first survey was done by Conkling Fiskum & McCormick in November 2007, and was conducted in the service territory of CCSD #1.  The second survey, also done by CFM, was conducted in April 2008 and included the surrounding cities and unincorporated areas as well as CCSD#1.
